Could you explain when we will be receiving the donations made to the www.firstgiving.con/bradking1 site? We are unsure of the whole process but very happy with the results so far....we are in dire need given my medical condition and inability to work. So are to help get us through and pay billls, cover expenses etc...Please explain the process and anything else we need to do to make sure we have no delays. Thank you, Brad King

Hello Brad,

Your Nonprofit Caring for Carcinoid Foundation is set up to receive electronic funds transfer from FirstGiving every Friday. That means all the donations this week through today (Thursday 10/7/10) will be transferred to their bank account tomorrow.

Let me know if you have further questions.

Sincerely,

Chris Harvey

All of the donations will go to Caring for Carcinoid? When will we receive the balance after the 7.5% fee? I thought that is how it works? Do we get any portion of the donations? The site was  intended to  help us raise money for or personal medical and financial crisis. We wanted some porceeds to benifit research but we really needed a way for people to help us through donations. Did we do something wrong when we set this up? Please let me know asap...I am so scared now that friends intending to help my family have only help the foundation. I need a call from a live person to explain what has happened...PLEASE? Yes, in general how does this work?  If I donate to a specific nonprofit, how does the money actually get to them?  Or does it?  If the nonprofit hasn't established a relationship with you, what kind of effort do you make to get donated money to the nonprofit?  Or do you just select a nonprofit that is sort of similar that you do have a relationship with?

Hi Baxi,

The funds are sent to the nonprofit that you choose - nonprofits can only be listed on our site if they're in the national Guidestar database of nonprofits, which also provides us with their address.  We send checks to that address regardless of whether the nonprofit has an account with us or not.  We would never decide for you where to send funds - they are only ever sent to the same organization that you selected when you chose to donate or fundraise.
