How to create a fundraising page

If you are participating in an event put on by a nonprofit, you'll need to register for that event first before creating your fundraising page, so as to ensure your page is linked to the event.

If you would like to create a fundraising page independent of any official events - for instance, if you are doing your own athletic endeavor, or if you're creating a page in memory of a loved one - here are the steps you will need to follow.

  1. Go to the FirstGiving start page of the nonprofit you'd like to raise money for.  Can't find it?  Use our search.
  2. Click on the green Start Fundraising button.
  3. Select the type of fundraising activity you are doing, either by clicking on the image icons or by choosing from the dropdown menu labeled "Doing something we haven't listed?".  You'll see the dropdown menu if this nonprofit also has official events to choose from.
  4. Answer some basic questions about the duration of your fundraising, and, if you're doing a sporting event, the date of the event.
  5. Enter your email address and, if you already have a FirstGiving account, your password.  If you don't have a FirstGiving account, leave the password field blank and just click Continue.
  6. If you are new to FirstGiving, you'll create your account on this page by entering some information about yourself, creating a password, and choosing your profile address.  If you already have an account, this step will be skipped for you.
  7. Select the address for your page.
  8. Edit your page - then, share it with family and friends!
