Once you have a FirstGiving nonprofit page set up for your fundraising campaign or event, give careful thought to what you put on it. Here's a great example of a nonprofit page with all the essentials from our friends at the Idaho Humane Society:

In addition to putting together a great fundraising event (a dog walk), the folks at the Idaho Humane Society have made the most of their FirstGiving nonprofit page. When event participants go to the page to register for the event, they see:

  • The event date and location: "Oct. 2, 2010, Julia Davis Park and Downtown Boise"
  • A warm welcome: "See you there!  WOOF!"
  • An explanation that they have partnered with FirstGiving to make raising money online easy: "...the great thing about FirstGiving is that you can turn virtually any activity into a fundraising effort."
  • Easy instructions on what to do to register and create a fundraising page: "It only takes a few minutes to register for the event and start your Online Fundraising Page."
  • Encouragement to personalize the fundraising page as much as possible: "Personalize the text and photo on your Online Fundraising Page to express your passions and your purpose."
  • A tidbit about what to expect after creating a fundraising page and asking for donations: "Collect pledges, win prizes, and help homeless animals!"
  • Contact information at Idaho Humane Society to answer participants' questions: "For more information visit our website... or call."

You'll also want to make sure you've uploaded a banner with your organization's logo, some photos, and additional resources for your fundraisers, if you haven't already.
